Medal Winners | United Kingdom Student Film Festival | 2026

We had a very wonderful time showcasing a real variety of films from the world’s up and coming student filmmakers. We had a lovely Q and A with Director Lea Tošić about her Comedy Student Short, Zanzibar 4K Colorized, made in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a team of talented young students. It was a standout film and is the deserved winner of our Audience Favourite laurel and $100 Cash Prize!

We’d like to thank everyone who made the festival happen and to all the filmmakers who took part we wish you nothing but success in your filmmaking future. Here are short synopses of the fantastic films we showcased…A hamster king is a victim of his own demise when he refuses to share his excessive wealth with the rest of his kingdom. In a world overwhelmed by visual noise, advertisements saturate every corner of life—from towering billboards to intrusive pop-ups on digital screens. They blur the lines between content and commerce, subtly shaping desires and identities. A waiter and his client get into an absurd discussion in a situation that can change their lives forever. Natives of the Safari, Maasai tribes live on their cattle. In a traditional Maasai family, a man can have many wives. His wealth is measured by the number of cattle, wives, and children he owns. The surrounding world is changing, and so is the Maasai world. In the future, citizens are required to complete the ‘Transfer’ into ‘AI’ in order to become a legal citizen. The film follows a young film director who is determined to shoot her student film, but faces a series of comedic disasters: her car breaks down, the cameraman loses memory cards, one of the main actors doesn’t show up and the situation is further complicated when her jealous boyfriend shows up on set, bringing additional tension and chaos. The morning visit from a downstairs neighbour and his atypical request, take the main character on a journey down the memory lane of a lost relationship.

We had a highly appreciative audience and a few of our blessed filmmakers were in attendance to add to the enjoyment. It was great to meet everyone, a huge thank you to our festival participants and can’t wait for next season.

Short synopses of the brilliant work we showcased….. João shows up on a calm night in the Alentejo countryside, intent on taking his own life. After a couple great dates, Gina falls hard for Matt. Two best friends live out their childhood dream of becoming superheroes but quickly realize that it’s going to be harder than they expected. A couple’s first date takes an unexpected turn when a night of games reveals the mans intense, and slightly awkward, obsession with cars. A corporate secretary doesn’t understand the concept of April Fools Day. Or maybe she’s just living in a dystopian world. Donald Trump longs for Marge Simpson, so paints himself yellow and tries to find her in Springfield. It’s Lore’s first day as a navigator, and she’s eager to start her new job—if only her ship would show up. For that special time it takes a special cologne…Turkish Suede. Three brothers argue about the origin and meaning of a stain that appears in their late father’s house. In a rainy and desolate countryside, a man finds himself stuck behind the wheel of his broken-down car.

Dark and Light have been at war since the beginning of time. Until one day, Light finally wins. Although traditional culture has faded out of the mainstream vision, its spirit is still sticking. Zapop! is a three minutes 3D animated short about Bob, a new employee at a candy factory who works tirelessly, pursuing first place on the ranking board. In a world where superheroes are required to use their powers for the good of society, Renaud—endowed with a string of utterly useless abilities—tries to prove that he’s not subject to this obligation.

Medal Winners | Asia South East-Short Film Festival | 2026

We’d like to extend a warm thank you to our talented filmmakers who provided us with this season’s cornucopia of cinematic delights! We really enjoyed screening all the fantastic films at the Asia South East-Short Film Festival that happened in Phnom Penh on Saturday January 10th! It was a wonderful line-up and we thank all our filmmakers for their participation. We also were able to have a informative Q & A with Roshane Saidnattar, the director of Red Moon, one of the festival’s films.

Short synopses of the fantastic films we showcased…..

In Cambodia, under the Khmer Rouge regime (1075-1979), love was forbidden—labeled counter-revolutionary. To repopulate the country and tighten its control, the regime imposed forced marriages between deliberately mismatched singles. Each couple had three nights, under surveillance, to consummate their union. Refusal meant betrayal of the Organization—and risked execution. Mei-jin, an ethnic Korean girl from China, escapes domestic violence and works illegally in South Korea. When her abusive husband tracks her down, she receives unexpected help from Jae-beom, a Korean ex-convict struggling to find his place after prison. As they flee together, they taste a moment of freedom. Peace Lim, the protagonist, inherited his quirky and difficult temperament from his grandfather. This made his career and romantic life far from smooth. He always blamed his grandfather for his downhill life and resented him throughout his life. A man moves to Thailand with hope and optimism, before quickly decaying into a horrible example of the worst kind of foreigner. A fully AI-generated (SORA) music video, projected onto the tangible substance of a body and filmed in a single take. In this case, that body belongs to musician Masha Qrella: a candy-colored world made of inflated balloons inside a hall of mirrors. Fed by the Mekong River, Tonlé Sap Lake in Cambodia is not only home to hundreds of thousands of people living in the floating villages, it is also the source of 75% of Cambodia’s fish (equal to 60% of the country’s protein intake). Because of a combination of threats, from pollution to climate change, the densely populated area’s fish populations are dwindling – but locals are educating themselves on ways to make change. The film focuses on traditional Chinese opera, Tai Chi, calligraphy, embroidery and other intangible cultural heritage, explores the inheritance dilemma in modern society, and thinks about how to balance the development of traditional culture and future technology. Meet ICan`t, the most useless vacuum cleaner ever invented.

Medal Winners | 1 World Comedy Film Festival | 2025

We want to thank our medal winning filmmakers for dedicating themselves to the art of comedy. It’s a hard thing to pull off, especially in the film medium. Also a big thumbs up to our audience who made the effort to come along and be entertained! Until next year, b,bye!

Here are the synopses of the films hailing from all over the globe…. Alex and Chiara die in a car crash just after getting married. The young couple find themselves confronted by the bureaucracy and cynicism of the people running the purgatory in which they are now trapped. Pablo travels on the road with his girlfriend Belen and his cousin Mauro to his grandmother’s wake. But a heavy fog stops them. A country is shaken when — least expected — a ban is placed on the use of cheesy cat puns. Madeleine is 75 years old and has gone into a chemists to buy condoms. Supposedly, she wants to make water bombs out of them for a friend’s birthday. Mark is off to meet some quirky locals, and get stuck in! Bec & Sam move back home with their parents and become unBARable. Woking Cupcakes, a quirky and fun loving cricket team, prepare for their season opener. After 10 years of suffering the humiliation of having a mismatched helmet, one plastic astronaut has a chance at achieving his dream. A young man votes for the far right and something (un-) expected happens. Camilla is an aspiring actress auditioning for the background role of a couple kissing in the park in a Romantic Comedy. Ravioli – A dream or nightmare? Follow one man’s journey into the netherworld of pounding bass & pasta treats. A robot tries to break into a human facility, and is asked a security question.

Medal Winners | 1 World Film Festival | 2025

What a fantastic collection of films we showcased and we were lucky enough to have the director of one of them; “Speaker” directed by Alan Hamwan, give a Q and A to an appreciative audience. We learned that there was actually quite a bit of personal peril that went into the making of this moving and unique film which added an extra poignancy to the work. The other films were of a wide variety from documentaries to farcical, fast paced comedies, to disturbing AI generated fairytale-esque animations. We want to thank everyone who contributed to this wonderful event and look forward to next year’s festival.

Short synopses of the films we screened….. A disabled grocer goes to work as usual. On the way, he sees several men taking a girl to kill her. The grocer tries to save her life. A boy meets a rock on a salt flat. Two rickshaw drivers fighting with each other on a stop in the wilderness for a ride. Focusing on the Ewenki culture, the video explores the current situation of its cultural disappearance and the “rebirth” of the new generation of Ewenki people, and fully presents the hidden cultural meaning and emotional world of the Ewenki people. A well-meaning man discovers that love can change in five minutes. Pez’s life is a fairy tale, but it was written by the Brothers Grimm… and when the killer troll from under the bridge comes to harvest young girls, this girl scout must use her cookies to kill. This project is an allegory of the feeling of being lost, a sentiment that seems increasingly present, especially among Generation Z. Rather than a pessimistic outlook, it aims to highlight the power of unity and cooperation in navigating future challenges.
