Moody and surreal dramas featuring acclaimed actors, short docs on the possibility of human transformation, over the top French comedies, Norwegian satires on modern foibles, indictments on the effects of tech on children, brash and combative music videos, poignant reflections on life events and much more. Another hefty picnic basket of cinematic plenitude was bestowed upon our film loving festival goers. We wish Godspeed to every creative talent that made it happen! Go forth and multiply!

Short synopses of the films we showcased at this season’s festival…..

Under the time pressure of a potentially life changing test, a young couple unexpectedly takes a quick but meaningful look at their past, present and potential future. This micro doc explores her journey through addiction, survival, and creative rebirth. On a stormy night, while closing a café, a young waitress (Hannah Onslow) is confronted by a mysterious older woman (AACTA nominee Caroline Goodall). In a rainy and desolate countryside, a man finds himself stuck behind the wheel of his broken-down car. Madeleine is 75 years old and has gone into a chemists to buy condoms. A young couple find themselves confronted by the bureaucracy and cynicism of the people running the purgatory in which they are now trapped. Boys & Girls is a dialogue-driven short film set in Enfield Island Village. In today’s digital age, smartphones and social media have become an integral part of children’s lives… but at what cost? When three room mates welcome a new housemate into their apartment, tensions rise as suspicions about his true nature grow. Say Aye to AI. Unhinged Catbot, Kevin, supplies the deepest darkest fakes on the deep dark web. A man goes for a drink, but is stalked by the manifestation of his grotesque masculinity.
